LinkedIn Single Image Ad Specs (2026): Best Sizes and Aspect Ratios
If you're creating LinkedIn Single Image Ads, choosing the right dimensions is one of the easiest ways to avoid formatting issues and maximize performance.
The good news is that LinkedIn supports three primary aspect ratios, giving advertisers flexibility depending on their creative. The better news? After testing countless campaigns, we've found one format consistently performs best across devices.
Here's what you need to know before exporting your next creative.
LinkedIn Single Image Ad Dimensions
LinkedIn currently supports three standard formats for Single Image Ads:
- Square (recommended): 1200 × 1200 px. If you're already designing at 1080 × 1080 px, that also works well. This is the 1:1 aspect ratio and is our default recommendation.
- Landscape: 1200 × 628 px, using an approximately 1.91:1 aspect ratio. This is the same wide format many advertisers recognize from Meta.
- Portrait: 960 × 1200 px, using a 4:5 aspect ratio. This replaced LinkedIn's older, narrower vertical format and is now better aligned with modern mobile-first creative.
These formats work across desktop and mobile, but they don't all behave the same way inside the feed.
Square Is Usually the Safest Choice
At B2Linked, our default recommendation is simple:
Use square creative whenever possible.
The 1:1 format tends to deliver the most consistent experience across placements and devices. It occupies a strong amount of screen space on mobile without feeling oversized, and it displays cleanly on desktop as well.
While LinkedIn supports landscape and portrait options, square remains the easiest format to reuse across multiple campaigns while maintaining reliable presentation.
If you're creating one version of a creative first, start with square.
Landscape Still Has Its Place
The landscape format (1200 × 628 px) is familiar to many marketers because it's similar to Meta's long-standing horizontal ad size.
This format works well for:
- Wide product screenshots
- Webinar promotion graphics
- Banner-style creative with limited text
The tradeoff is that it typically occupies less vertical space in the mobile feed than square or portrait creative.
Portrait Uses LinkedIn's Newer 4:5 Format
Portrait creative has changed over time.
Originally, LinkedIn recommended a much narrower vertical format. More recently, the platform shifted toward a 4:5 aspect ratio (960 × 1200 px), bringing it closer to what marketers are already creating for platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
This format can create a stronger visual presence on mobile, but it isn't always necessary if you're already producing effective square creative.
Which Aspect Ratio Performs Best?
Every audience and campaign is different, so creative testing still matters.
That said, after managing hundreds of LinkedIn Ads accounts, we've consistently found that square creative offers the best balance of performance, flexibility, and compatibility.
Instead of constantly redesigning assets for every placement, many advertisers can simplify production by making square their default format and creating alternate sizes only when a specific campaign calls for them.
A Simple Creative Workflow
If you're building LinkedIn Ads from scratch, this workflow keeps things efficient:
- Design the primary creative as a 1200 × 1200 square.
- Create landscape or portrait versions only when the creative benefits from a different composition.
- Preview the ad on both desktop and mobile before publishing.
This approach reduces production time while ensuring your creative looks polished wherever your audience sees it.
The Bottom Line
LinkedIn gives advertisers three supported Single Image Ad formats, but you don't need to overcomplicate your creative process.
Keep these dimensions handy:
- Square: 1200 × 1200 px (recommended)
- Landscape: 1200 × 628 px
- Portrait: 960 × 1200 px (4:5)
When in doubt, start with square. It's the format we've found to perform most consistently across LinkedIn's placements and devices, making it a reliable default for most campaigns.
